Episode 20: The Body Keeps The Score

In this episode of Why Mindset Matters, I talk about something I’ve come to understand deeply through my own experience with grief and trauma — the toll that chronic stress and survival mode can take on our bodies. Recently having my grief exacerbated by the unexpected loss of our family dog, I found myself stuck in fight-or-flight without even realising it. And over time, that emotional overload quickly started to show up physically.

We often don’t connect our immune system, our health, or even chronic illness with the emotional weight we carry — but it’s all connected. The body keeps score, and if we’re not careful, unprocessed grief and prolonged stress can manifest in ways we never expected.

In this conversation, I share how I've started to recognise the signs, what I’ve learned about nervous system regulation, and why true healing asks us to care for not just our minds and hearts, but our whole being. If you've been living in survival mode for too long, this one’s for you — a reminder that your body deserves peace too. And that if we want to thrive, we have to start treating our nervous system like it matters. Because it does.
