In this episode of Paige’s Perspective, I share why I don’t like talking about addiction — and why I believe it’s often just a convenient cover for behaviors that need to be addressed no matter what. Too often we focus on understanding addiction, thinking it will give us the answers we need to heal, when the truth is, those behaviors exist with or without the substance. I talk about my own experience of navigating my husband’s active addiction without knowing anything about the “rules” or the disease model, and how that actually saved me from excusing hurtful, manipulative, and unsafe actions. This episode is about shifting the focus back to you: your values, your boundaries, and your authentic self.
