In this video, I share the craziest race story of my life, and the closest I've ever been to death. It all started by chance when I was in Pokhara, Nepal, and learned about an ultra trail race called the Annapurna 100. After a long hike in the Annapurnas, I was reading Maurice Herzog's "First Ascent of Annapurna" in a café when an Australian girl asked me, “You doing the race, mate?”
This question led me to scramble for a last-minute ticket to race 100 kilometers in the Himalayas just two days later. What followed was an unforgettable adventure filled with lessons in what to do and what not to do. My lack of preparation nearly got me killed, and there were moments during the race when the path forward seemed impossible without taking significant risks.
In This Video, You'll Learn:
- Race Story: My spontaneous decision to join the Annapurna 100 and the adventure that followed.
- Preparation Lessons: The importance of preparation and the dangers of neglecting it.
- Survival Moments: How I navigated life-threatening situations during the race.
- Inspiration: The importance of saying yes to opportunities, even when conditions aren't perfect.
Key Topics Covered:
1. Annapurna 100: Overview of the ultra trail race in the Himalayas.
2. Spontaneous Decision: How a chance encounter led to a last-minute race entry.
3. Race Challenges: The extreme conditions and challenges faced during the race.
4. Lessons Learned: The critical importance of preparation and risk management.
5. Embracing Opportunities: Encouragement to seize opportunities, even when they're not perfect.

- Stories of survival and overcoming extreme challenges.
- The value of embracing opportunities and saying yes to new experiences.
- Inspiration to take risks and pursue adventures, regardless of perfect conditions.
