Two stories, 33 combined years of sobriety, and one driving question: am I focused on God or on myself? We trace the everyday systems that turned fragile early recovery into lasting freedom, from Scripture texts and quiet prayer to choosing a worship night over an old escape and discovering a marriage and a new community on the other side.
We talk candidly about what actually holds when life hits hard—grief, loneliness, and the old pull to isolate. Daily habits matter because you don’t rise to the occasion; you fall to the level of your training. That’s why we dig into practical spiritual disciplines, real-world boundaries with money and phones, and how to build friendships that feed your spirit instead of your cravings. You’ll hear how uncomfortable church choices can still be the right ones, why the church is people more than a building, and how serving others becomes one of the strongest relapse guards.
Underneath it all is identity. Comparison, shame, and the hunger for applause lose their grip when we live as new creations, washed by the Word and formed by perseverance. We also name father wounds and the power of simple affirmation—hearing “I love you” and “I’m proud of you” changes the story you tell yourself. If you’re rebuilding life after addiction or standing with someone who is, this conversation offers honest hope and clear next steps: get rooted, get connected, and give away what you’ve received.
If this helped you, subscribe, share it with a friend, and drop a comment with one system you’re adding this week—we’d love to hear your next step.
