8:22 Conclusion: A short wrap-up of how you can get the best out of yourself.
No matter how physically fit you are, if you're not mentally prepared, you WILL NOT achieve an optimal result.
We look up to and appreciate top-level athletes, the 0.001%—those that don't just have great years or great races or games, but incredible careers.
We appreciate them for their brilliance and their longevity, but it's the discipline and dedication behind the scenes that make them able to relentlessly show us that they are the best year after year.
That is the mindset of a champion, and no matter what level you're at or what you're working towards, you can unleash that within yourself. It's a character trait that always needs work, but we can all be at least twice as good as we are right now.
Very few people reach their full potential.
In the video, I talk about confidence, visualization, coping under pressure, and having a responsibility to yourself to give your best.
I tell you how you can flip your thinking, and instead of getting nervous, you can feed off the energy around an event or race.
Imagine if your weakness could become a strength. You wouldn't just improve a few percentage points; you'd improve massively with huge gains.
You are awesome, show yourself just how great you can be.
