A stomach bug or bad meal can explain the vomiting—but what if it keeps happening? Beyond food poisoning or the flu, frequent vomiting could point to something more complex, like Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS).

In this episode of Wonder Why, Amy Isabella Chalker explains when vomiting becomes a red flag, what MCAS is, how it’s tested, and what treatments are available. Amy is a virtual Registered Dietitian Nutritionist on the California Central Coast, specializing in the treatment of Disordered Eating and Clinical Eating Disorders. She seeks to assist clients in examining and developing their own unique relationship with food and body, and in doing so, develop a consistent, supportive relationship with the clients themselves. Amy often works closely with parents to help them feed toddlers through adolescents in emotionally and behaviorally healthy ways. She also helps guide clients with co-occurring gastrointestinal illnesses and autoimmune conditions, including Mast Cell Activation Syndrome.
