Uptalk May Signal Uncertainty: When statements end with rising pitch—called uptalk—they can come across as tentative or less confident. 4. Technology Biases Against Higher Pitches: Historical design of broadcasting and telephony systems favored lower pitches, often distorting or deeming women’s naturally higher voices as “shrill.”
