Welcome to the first show of Season 2! We're discussing the signature components of gothic literature and we're using Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë to illustrate each one. Jane Eyre is Julia's favorite book of all time so this was an extra fun episode to record. One small warning: the recording quality isn't the greatest - we had some technical difficulties.
Books mentioned in this chapter:

  • Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë
  • The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield
  • Dracula by Bram Stoker
  • The Strange case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson
  • Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier
  • The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde
  • Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë
  • The Castle of Otantro by Horace Walpole
  • The Mysteries of Udolpho by Ann Radcliffe
  • We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson
  • Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad
