Manage episode 502948557 series 3621366
[Runtime: 4min/57sec.] Lighthearted Observations from a Canadian Boomer:
"We'll do almost anything to make life a bit easier - even if it means straying a bit from what's 'officially' right? Maybe you're listening to this on your phone during a park walk, noticing the artfully dodged bike helment laws...a classic case of the 'Normalization of Deviance'."
New episodes of The JAFO Report Podcast are uploaded Tuesday and Thursday mornings around 5:00am PT. If for some reason you are not able to download a copy of the podcast from your regular podcast provider, feel free to contact [email protected] and I'll add you to our email list and send the shows out as an MP3 attachment (approx. 5 MB).

How Does a JAFOreport come together? With my ADD Curious Brain always on, I come up with the query and put it to the AI program 'Perplexity.' The perameters include direction to write to an 8th grade reading level, but still in the style of a progressive Canadian West Coast Boomer. I then personally edit and sometimes rewrite parts for clarity. Going back to my commerical production days in radio, I then voice track the script in my home studio using my trusty Shure SM7b using the 'Punch & Roll' technique in Audacity. Once recorded, I then edit it, removing any background noise, breathing sounds, mic pops and lip clicks. Then it's time to add EQ effects, as well as amplify, compress, limit and normalize. After listening to the finished product two to three times to check for any remaining issues which I then correct; I then upload an MP3 file.
