🔄 Break the Loop 4/7: Calm in the Chaos #TrustYourselfThursday

“What separates the good from the great is the ability to stay calm under fire.” --Peyton Manning

So here’s the secret: calm isn’t about the world slowing down. It’s about you building stability inside, no matter what’s swirling around you. The Bible puts it like this: “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you” (Isaiah 26:3).

Elite athletes train this skill the same way they train their bodies. They wire their brains to respond, not react.

One key player in this is your insular cortex. Think of it as your body’s interpreter. It reads your heartbeat, your breathing, your muscle tension, and decides if what’s happening feels threatening or manageable. When it’s strong and regulated, it keeps your prefrontal cortex online so you can think clearly instead of panicking.

Here’s how to train it. Place your hand on your chest and simply notice what you feel for 30 seconds. No judgment, just awareness. That practice alone strengthens your ability to stay steady. Add the reset breath—inhale slowly, exhale longer—and you’ve got a double win.

Today’s challenge: Think of a moment where pressure usually rattles you. Maybe it’s a quarterback standing tall in the pocket as the blitz closes in. Or a soccer goalie facing a penalty shot with the game on the line. That’s when this practice counts. Notice your body. Take the breath. Watch how quickly calm turns into clarity.

🎧 Hit play and let’s talk about building the kind of trust in yourself that no outside chaos can shake.
