Episode 21

How To Grow My Business with YouTube

We have another digital marketing 101 episode. In episode 21, we explain how to utilize the power of YouTube for your small business. Listen in to understand more about YouTube and what steps you can take to begin utilizing this social media video platform to get noticed on the web.

Why Use YouTube to Promote Your Business

More than one-fourth of the world’s population is on YouTube, and more than 122 million users log on a day. As a result, marketers have a massive opportunity to tap into this audience. In addition, while many social media platforms prioritize video, YouTube has the unique ability to reach just about any demographic.

When getting started on YouTube, Lynn and Mark emphasize the importance of creating content with the ideal client in mind. YouTube is often used as a search engine, with users logging on to find answers to their questions in video format. Catering your content to match the mindset of a YouTube user will establish you as a leader in the field.

How To Start Promoting on YouTube

Starting out on YouTube doesn’t have to be complicated. For example, if you use Zoom to record podcasts, you can simply upload the edited video to YouTube and the audio to your preferred podcast platform. That way, you’re creating content for multiple platforms at one time.

Lynn encourages business owners with less experience in graphic design to use the free website Canva to create YouTube thumbnails for their videos. Canva provides multiple free templates that make it easy to create visually pleasing content without the technical skills needed for Photoshop. Lynn and Mark also share other pieces of advice, such as batching videos and scheduling them on YouTube and utilizing a linktr.ee account to consolidate all your brand’s links into an ‘electronic business card.’
