Sheryl Carbonell is Canadian born, from Windsor Ontario, Canada, and Jamaican bred. Her Caribbean roots and occasional Canadian 'eh's' 'outs' 'abouts' and 'houses' (if you know, you know) are just some of what make Sheryl unique.
Sheryl is a piano and voice instructor, and a classical singer. When she was 12 she landed a role in The Windsor Light Opera's 'Annie'. Though the director wanted her to be Annie, at that time, no girl of colour was cast as the iconic red-headed orphan. Instead she was cast as the orphan July. She went on to sing in Orlando Opera Company's resident chorus before landing a principal operatic role in 'The Magic Flute'.
You can catch Sheryl in Issa Rae's 'Rapsh!t' on HBO MAX, and on Lifetime in 'Nightmare PTA Mom's', 'Deadly Excursion Kidnapped from the Beach' and soon to be released, 'You Can't Teach Love' filmed in her hometown Windsor Canada. You can also read about her professional theatre/opera credits on IMDb at imdb.me/sherylcarbonell.
Sheryl's company, CARBONELL CREATIVE INC., is home to her teaching business and her filmmaking projects. Sheryl teaches voice and piano and wrote, directed and produced a 5-part docuseries about creative women who paint to overcome adversity.
Sheryl holds a Masters Degree in Music Education and Performance from the University of Central Florida. Sheryl is a member of the Actors' Equity Association. She is also SAG-eligible and willing to join.
