In this heartfelt episode of The Empowered Adoptee Podcast, we explore a tender and complex question:
“What does AAPI Heritage Month mean to Asian American adoptees?”

For many of us, this month brings up a mix of celebration and sorrow — pride in our cultural roots, grief for what was lost, and sometimes uncertainty about where we belong. Together, we unpack these emotions and share how adoptees are finding ways to reclaim identity, reconnect to heritage, and show up authentically in AAPI spaces.

We also reflect on some of the meaningful moments from our recent Empowered Adoptee Retreat in Lake Tahoe — a powerful weekend of connection, healing, and joy. These experiences remind us that community and shared story are essential parts of the healing journey.

💬 Topics We Cover:

  • The emotional complexity of AAPI Heritage Month for adoptees
  • Reclaiming culture in ways that feel authentic
  • Grief, pride, and the feeling of being “in-between”
  • Visibility and inclusion within AAPI communities
  • Healing reflections from our Lake Tahoe retreat

✍️ Journaling Prompts for Reflection:
