Welcome to another calming installment of the Sleepy Scriptures One-Year Bible, where I read the King James Version of Scripture softly, with soothing music to bring you peace and rest in God’s Word.
In this gentle episode, we continue our journey through the Gospel of Luke, reading chapters 4 through 11. Here we witness Jesus beginning His public ministry—teaching with authority, healing the sick, and revealing God’s heart through parables and prayer.
We hear Him resist temptation in the wilderness, call His first disciples, and show compassion to the outcast and the brokenhearted. Through every word and miracle, Jesus reveals the nature of His kingdom: one of mercy, truth, and restoration.
As you listen, let the words of Christ calm your spirit and remind you that the same Savior who healed and forgave long ago still calls gently to your heart tonight. Rest in His presence and trust in His love.
Highlighted Verses:

  • Luke 4:18 — “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me… to preach the gospel to the poor.”
  • Luke 5:31–32 — “They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick… I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
  • Luke 6:27–28 — “Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you… pray for them which despitefully use you.”
  • Luke 7:47 — “Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much.”
  • Luke 8:25 — “What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.”
  • Luke 11:9 — “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.”

As you settle into rest, may these sacred words remind you that the voice of Jesus still brings peace to every storm.
