In this episode I am excited to be speaking with Sarah Vader and Rusty Ford both members of the local band The Western Wallflowers here in Durango, Colorado. Many of you may have seen them playing around town and most recently at The Powerhouse Science Center’s Community Concert series. The band has only been playing together for a year after Rusty and Sarah met at an open mic night in town. Quickly they became known for their original melodic arrangements as well as cover songs, with Sarah’s rich, clear voice and guitar playing along with the band’s super talented musicians bringing another great experience to the music scene here in Durango. Rusty’s cello playing and beautiful vocal harmonies give the songs an additional dimension which we hear as they play one of their original songs “Weeds” during this interview! Although the musicians all have day jobs, they manage to find enough time to practice and just enjoy each others company which comes across when you see them together on stage.
