8/7/25: The Art of Appetizers - Creative Bases, Bold Toppings, Pure Joy
Manage episode 498927420 series 3658749
In this episode, I want to reflect on our amazing journey together since we started back in March. We've covered so much ground – from different cooking methods like steaming and water sautéing, to slowing down and really chewing our food, and even cutting back on sugar by exploring healthier alternatives like maple syrup and brown rice syrup.
We've also explored the world of spring vegetables, discovered the magic of sea vegetables, and dove into summer grains, salads, dressings, sauces, and desserts. I truly hope you've been having fun creating wonderful dishes!
Today, I want to talk about appetizers! You know how my mother always taught me to bring a little something when visiting someone? Well, I've been creating fun appetizers ever since, and I thought this would be perfect to share with you.
I'll walk you through my creative process – from deciding whether to make finger foods or dips, to choosing the base, and exploring amazing toppings like homemade pesto and herb cashew cream. We can even recreate those childhood favorites we loved, but make them so much healthier!
I've also got a special treat for you – four delicious recipes in our August download, including polenta creations, red pepper walnut spread, sweet potato bites, and avocado cucumber stacks. And because we all need a little sweetness, I'm sharing two sugar-free dessert recipes too! A jam-filled almond cookie and almond butter rice crispy treats!
