"Curiosity is going to be your friend..."

In this week's solo episode I go on a rant about the way our brains play tricks on us through schemas, assumptions, and cognitive biases. This can impact our relationships and our businesses; they are mental shortcuts that our brain does which often leads to misunderstandings, unnecessary conflict, and lost opportunities (especially in business!). I share why our minds crave closure, how to recognize when we are "filling in the blanks", and practical tools for shifting from assumption to self-awareness. It's time to embrace uncertainty, choose curiosity, and practice direct communication so that you can protect your confidence, strengthen your relationships, and create more peace in your daily life.

Key Takeaways:

  • Our brains naturally fill in gaps with assumptions.
  • Assumptions can create misunderstandings, ruin relationships, and harm business growth.
  • Curiosity and direct communication help prevent unnecessary conflict.
  • Self-awareness is the first step to catching cognitive biases.
  • Embracing uncertainty builds resilience and confidence.
  • Journaling can reveal where you’re telling yourself false stories.
  • Releasing the need for control creates more peace and clarity.
