I timed this episode just right because it's my BIRTHDAY WEEK and...I brought on my best friend, Meg Jones, for this week's collab episode!! The idea for this collab came to me in a download earlier this summer and I knew I had to act on it. I also thought it would be a fun opportunity for Meg! In this collab, we discuss maintaining a long-distance friendship, alongside other roles in our lives. We share our 15-year friendship journey, from meeting in college to navigating different life chapters. We share with you as many of our highs and lows that we can think of as well as the unique ways that we stay connected, despite the distance between us. We really encourage listeners to pour into relationships that are important to them and to be intentional about how they are maintained. We share stories of intense moments and how our friendship helped us navigate these situations. We also discuss the role of faith and spirituality and how we hold space for each other's beliefs. Overall, our friendship is characterized by mutual support, understanding, growth, and being non-judgmental.
Key Takeaways:

  • Maintaining friendships as adults requires understanding and support through the highs and lows.
  • Long-distance friendships can be nurtured through unique forms of communication.
  • Pouring into relationships that are important to you is essential for their growth and longevity.
  • Being intentional about maintaining friendships helps overcome the challenges of busy lives and multiple roles.
  • Each friendship is unique, and finding what works for both parties is key to sustaining the connection.
  • Holding space for each other's beliefs and experiences is important.
