Meet Jon Fischer—affectionately known as Coach Cub — the heart and paws behind the ever popular Camp Bear Hug, NYC’s beloved group Belly Club, AND multiple cuddle piles and bear yoga sessions that have brought connection and comfort to queer spaces across New York City.

In this week’s episode, we’re diving into the world of the Bear community — a rich, diverse, and often misunderstood corner of the LGBTQ+ spectrum. Whether you’re a seasoned Bear, a curious Cub, an admirer, or just exploring beyond the mainstream, this one’s for you. Together, Jon and I challenge stereotypes, celebrate body positivity, and honor the full spectrum of masculinity, softness, and self-expression.

Jon shares his powerful journey to living authentically — and how that path led him to become a coach, mentor, and space-maker for others seeking community, connection, and healing. We’ll explore how Bear identity intersects with race, age, gender expression, and body image — and what it means to find your pack and thrive within it.

More than just beards and brawn, the Bear scene is rooted in belonging — in chosen family, brotherhood, and bold self-love. From its roots in leather bars to international Bear runs and digital dens full of camaraderie, Bears have carved out a culture where vulnerability and strength go hand in paw.

So fluff up your fur and lean in. This episode is about living out loud, loving your body, and finding joy in being exactly who you are.
