I am really excited to bring you another great interview in our series of discussions with Bowen Teachers from around the world, today we bring you this really interesting discussion with College of Bowen Studies Introduction Course Tutor Annie Hall.
Annie's story is unique in that she lives on a fairly small island off the coast of Scotland UK, the Isle of Mull. She moved there to support her father and raise her children and developed for herself a very successful massage business, doing a lot of care for the over 65's and getting a lot of referrals from the local GPs. She moved back down to England and became a care home manager and was delivering a lot of training on health and social care before moving back to Mull and training in Bowen in 2021 with CBS. Since then she has not only made a thriving business, but is passionate about bringing Bowen to the more remote parts of Scotland where there is little provision for the technique.
Annie sees the Introduction courses as a great way to get the community ot help themselves and we talk a lot about how island life has changed over the last 30 years and how much more dependent on tourism they are. This means that many people, especially women, are depending on seasonal work, and Annie sees this as a chance to expand the employment opportunities as well as the health of the islanders. She has also been invited by local high schools to share Bowen with the students and will be working with the University of the Highlands and Islands to deliver the Introduction to Bowen courses.
This is such a great story of the value of Bowen Technique in rural communities, we hope you all enjoy listening to this interview as much as Ben did in recoding it.
