I decided to follow some sage advice to reduce the problem dramatically, not quite a digital detox but way better.
Despite getting caught up in the geopolitics and realised that it was just costing me lots of time and peace of mind.
We will discuss the things that I did to reduce my dependence on the endorphins obtained from social media and how Steven J Manning has personally made quantum leaps in productivity over his 5 decades in business.
Step-by-step: What I changed – increased exercise dramatically, reduced doom scrolling, batch edited some YouTube shorts and more.
Ceos batch read their emails and many follow the Eisenhower matrix:
1. Urgent and Important (Do First): These are tasks that demand immediate attention and are crucial for achieving goals. Examples include crises, pressing problems, and deadlines.
2. Important, but Not Urgent (Schedule): These tasks contribute to long-term goals and success but don't require immediate action. Examples include planning, relationship building, and skill development.
3. Urgent, but Not Important (Delegate): These tasks require immediate attention but don't contribute significantly to long-term goals. Examples include interruptions, some meetings, and some requests.
4. Neither Urgent nor Important (Delete): These tasks are distractions and do not contribute to productivity or long-term goals. Examples include time-wasting activities and excessive social media use.
Results for me where as follows:
Became far less stressed. Way more focused, I also started looking at the daily tasks that I do as my choice VS a bad choice. You cannot love everything that you do, but you can sure frame your mind to not hate those things and remind yourself it is not always going to be that way.
We also discuss:
High-level CEO strategies (e.g., “Why top CEOs never multitask”) as we discussed in the last video usually you get two tasks completed in a mediocre way.
