Not All ‘Sorrys’ Are Equal - What Apologies Are and What They're Not
Manage episode 489209032 series 3562419
In today's episode, I'm talking about what apologies are and what they're not. Apologies are an act of repair - they don't undo what happened or wipe it all clean, but they CAN mend the fabric of a relationship.
Receiving apologies can feel foreign, too. You can receive an apology while still honoring your pain and holding boundaries. You don't have to pretend it didn't hurt just to make someone else feel better!
I hope this episode encourages you to reflect on your relationship with apologies (both on the giving AND receiving end). If you need more support in this area, this is the kind of work we do inside the Good Movement Collective and in 1:1 Good Movement Guidance.
In this episode, I cover:
- What true apologies are + how they help to mend connection
- What apologies are NOT
- Why so many of us struggle to receive apologies + how to practice receiving them with grace
- Naming and grieving the hurt when an apology never comes
- Practical tips for offering a genuine, heartfelt apology
