The Stanford Prison Experiment — When Environment Shapes Mindset
In 1971, Stanford psychologists turned a basement into a fake prison. Volunteers were split into “guards” and “prisoners.”

Within days, guards became cruel. Prisoners became submissive. The study had to be shut down early because of the psychological toll.

The takeaway? Even good people adapt to toxic environments. Willpower alone isn’t enough—context shapes behavior.

Mindset lesson: If you want to change your life, don’t just chase more discipline. Change your environment. Surround yourself with people and spaces that pull you higher.

Your mindset doesn’t just live in your head—it lives in your surroundings.
