In this week's Father’s of the Future Experience, I am joined by my good friend Josh Middagh. Josh shares with us that he never wanted to be a father, he thought he was too selfish to give what a child needs. It wasn’t until his own father passed away unexpectedly that Josh began to look at things differently. Josh went through a period of depression and wondered what was the point to life. Two years after his loss he would visit a therapist that would encourage him to start writing about his feelings. Josh shared what he wrote with his wife and she was in tears. Josh’s wife told him he not only needed to keep writing but that he needed to write a book. Josh decided to use the writing experience to reclaim his purpose in life. Knowing a lot of men struggle with grief and feelings Josh wanted to give them the tools to navigate those feelings. He’s a firm believer that when you don’t have something to pour into you don’t have purpose. Not only did Josh reclaim his purpose with writing he decided he was ready to be a father. In adopting his daughter he had another person to pour into all that his dad had poured into him.

In this podcast experience we’ll touch on things like…

  • Dealing with feelings of grief
  • Journaling as a form of healing
  • How the purpose of life is love
  • Putting your actions where your faith is
  • How God doesn’t want our pain to be in vain
  • Josh’s book The Master’s Key
