Walt Pickut is a seasoned journalist, author, and freelance writer with an impressive track record spanning healthcare, the natural sciences, journalism, and creative writing.
Through his business, Fresh Ink Writing Services, Walt has penned more than 1,300 feature articles, essays, editorials, and content pieces for newspapers, journals, and online platforms over the past 15 years. He has also authored and ghostwritten books, including memoirs and first-person accounts of notable figures in U.S. history, as well as medical books on LASIK and vascular surgery.
With a dual background in communications and healthcare, Walt holds degrees in communications, biology, chemistry, and medical physiology. His medical expertise includes board certifications in respiratory care, sleep disorders, and polysomnography, with experience in clinical practice, hospital leadership, and medical education. In addition, he has taught broadcast journalism and public speaking at the university level and has hosted his own radio programs as an on-air commentator.
Walt is an active member of prestigious writing organizations, including the American Society of Journalists and Authors, The Authors Guild, and the Society of Professional Journalists. He is also a board member at the Martz-Kohl Astronomical Observatory, where he collaborates with NASA scientists and educators on projects related to astronomy and space travel.
Currently based in Jamestown, New York—hometown of comedy legend Lucille Ball and Nuremberg prosecutor Robert H. Jackson—Walt enjoys hiking, camping, and gardening in his free time.
