a spotlight on the Scripture, Proverbs 10:1 The Proverbs of Solomon. A wise son makes a glad father, but a foolish son is a sorrow to his mother.

A wise son makes his father happy. Have you noticed that when a father has a son who does well in school or excels in sports, the father brags about him? "My son has a Ph.D. and teaches in college." "My son is on the football team." But if the son fails or doesn't make the team, the father stays quiet and doesn't mention him.

But a foolish son makes his mother sad. The mother grieves when her son makes poor choices. The father just overlooks it and stays quiet. This shows that a boy can either be wise or foolish. This proverb speaks to how the presence or absence of wisdom in a child’s heart affects his relationship with his parents. From the beginning, parents you must teach your children a divine perspective of life so that they are equipped to make decisions that glorify God.
