For this episode, we're turning the tables and I'm the one getting grilled. My dear friend Georgie, an amazing journalist and the editor of Marie Claire suggested I do an episode where I share the backstory of how this podcast came to be and the experiences that have shaped its purpose and direction. I also figured that if I expect my guests to be completely vulnerable and bare all, it’s only fair that I share my own story... This interview is deeply personal for me. I open up about my childhood and the lead up to my decision to go to a rehab facility for depression and anxiety. Thankfully, Georgie was there to support me through it all. Georgie and I first met over 16 years ago at Vogue, where we quickly became close friends. We're godmothers to each other’s children and have been through all the hard stuff together. Georgie is not only a fantastic journalist but also the former host of her own podcast and founder of The Grace Tales, a media site dedicated to motherhood. I've always admired her creativity, determination, and entrepreneurial spirit and she constantly encourages me to step out of my comfort zone. In this intimate conversation, we reminisce about our magazine days, explore why I left Vogue to start Beauticate, and dive into the pivotal, life-changing experiences that led to the creation of this podcast. It's a lot to cover, but I'm hoping that by sharing my story, others will feel validated, and even encouraged. So many of us suffer in a silent vortex of emotion, feeling that if we speak up or ask for help we'll be labeled weak or problematic. But these feelings and experiences are more widespread and universal than we think, and opening up the dialogue around mental health can only help us feel more accepted and heard. If you enjoy this episode, please don't forget to rate and review it on iTunes. Your support is invaluable and helps me to continue bringing you content like this. Sigourney x
