Tonight we tackle a king who barely gets a line in the Bible and a tower people have argued about for 3,000 years. Nimrod and the Tower of Babel—big names, bigger questions. We move from Genesis 10–11 into rabbinic midrash, archaeology, and cultural memory: Nimrod the “mighty hunter,” founder of early cities in Shinar; Babel’s bricks and bitumen; ziggurats like Etemenanki; and why God “came down” to confuse a one-language empire. Along the way we sift legends (Esau, furnaces, giant talk), parallels with Gilgamesh and Sargon, and the conspiracy circuit that recasts Nimrod from proto-mason to occult kingpin—separating entertaining stories from credible claims. We’ll ask what parts are ancient polemic, what matches real Mesopotamian architecture, and how a biblical footnote became a symbol of empire and rebellion. Bottom line: Babel isn’t anti-city or anti-tech; it’s a warning about pride, power, and trying to “make a name.” If you like history with a side of mystery—primary texts and tall tales, clay bricks and power plays—you’re in the right place.
