This discussion was occasioned by our encountering the phrase לאשמת העם as the condition of the sin of the כהן גדול that obligates him to bring the special חטאת identified at the beginning of דיבור החובה (Vayyikra 4:1-12). This shiur was given in memory of Rav Etshalom's father, הרב אשר אהרן בן אברהם בנימין ואסתר ז"ל whose yahrzeit falls out on כא בתמוז.
