Over the last 30 years, Genevieve Pitturo has had an extraordinary journey. She established herself as a television executive in New York City, but soon found herself looking to do something more with her life.

This led her to create the Pajama Program, a nonprofit that helps kids that are facing tremendous adversity with housing insecurity and ensures they have equitable access to healthy sleep so they can thrive. Since 2001, they have provided pajamas and books to more than 8 million kids nationwide.

In our conversation, you’ll hear why Genevieve’s career in television was leading to feelings of emptiness and why she made the leap to charitable work, how she built a network around her to turn her vision into a thriving charity, and the beauty of giving back to our communities.

In this podcast interview, you’ll learn:

  • How a little voice in her head inspired Genevieve to look for something more in life, break from her workaholic lifestyle, and follow her passion by giving back.
  • How Genevieve bootstrapped her charity from the ground up–and the critical mistakes she made along the way.
  • The four truths leaders need to embrace when pursuing their passion.
  • How Genevieve balanced purpose and profit as she transitioned out of her television career and launched the Pajama Program.
  • The difference between having–and being–a boss.
