The ease at which Wilby produces music that is both familiar and brand new; as well as incredibly catchy and addictive is a joy to experience.
From the suburbs of Philadelphia, songwriter and performer Maria Crawford has been paving her way in the Nashville independent music scene since 2014. Formerly known as the folk artist Mar, Crawford developed the new moniker "Wilby" and released a debut EP Translucent Beauty under that name in 2021.
Crawford has been writing songs for over 15 years, using her music to identify and process emotions, find a way to be heard, and foster connection. Her songs invite listeners to explore both the shared human experience and the power of telling one's story.
Her debut album, Center of Affection, is set to release this October via Hit the North Records, with the lead double single "Pleaser"/"Spin" released in March 2025.
