Wiregrass Daily News had the honor of chatting with Vietnam veterans Doc Holladay, President of Army Aviation, and Bob Cooper, President of Chapter 373, about some of their experiences during and after the Vietnam War, and upcoming events honoring Vietnam Veteran's Day. This Saturday, March 29th, the wiregrass community is encouraged to come to Ozark to honor Vietnam War veterans and remember those who lost their lives in service. The event, marking Vietnam Veteran's Day, will provide an opportunity to learn about the vital role Huey helicopters played during the war. Starting at 4 p.m., Friends of Army Aviation will offer Huey helicopter rides, allowing visitors to experience the distinctive sound of the helicopters that were crucial for transport and medical evacuations during the conflict. The event will also feature educational displays on the history of the Huey and its importance to those who served. This day will not only honor the sacrifices of veterans but also give the public a chance to connect with history in a meaningful way. Join the community in this special tribute to Vietnam veterans this Saturday, March 29th.
