The change was made in an effort to reduce training time, as well as wear and tear on airframes and most important, to save money. Advances in technology. The advent of Precision Landing Mode, informally known as “Magic Carpet” is a technological advancement in a data linkup with an aircraft’s flight control system. The bottom line, is that this advancement in technology makes landing on a ship easier. Only time will tell.
