Emily Trujillo andLayne Jackson Hubbard led FUTUROS ANCESTRAL as part of the TCA Community Arts Fellowship in the past 8 months. It included conducting online workshops, recording videos of weaving patterns and creating cohorts of weavers across Northern New Mexico.

In this conversation with Alice Morillon, Emily and Layne reflect on the work they have led. They generously share thoughts on nuances of traditional and contemporary practices, the nature of maintaining an art form within its cultural frame and how weaving can serve as a catalyst for history, community and advocacy.
