“When the Addict Was Me” (Part 1)

Weighing In With Lindsie — A Two-Part Addiction Series

This week on Weighing In With Lindsie, I’m opening the door to a part of my story I never planned to share… and honestly, one I never even wanted to face.

If you’ve followed my journey, you know this podcast began with my weight loss story after bariatric surgery. And while that will always be part of my life, the truth is: there’s more to my story than the scale. Much more.

Today, I’m sharing something deeper.
Something heavier.
Something I hid for a long time.

In this episode, I’m talking openly about my struggle with alcohol addiction — how it started, how quickly it escalated, the shame that consumed me, and the moment God broke the chains I couldn’t break myself.

This isn’t a “before and after” story.
This is the middle — the messy middle — where God met me in the dark and pulled me back into the light.

If you’ve ever battled addiction, shame, or felt stuck in a cycle you couldn’t break… I pray this episode reminds you that you’re not alone and you’re not beyond healing. Freedom is real. Grace is real. And your story isn’t over.

Part 2 drops December 17, where I’m joined by my cousin as we continue the conversation with another raw and powerful perspective on addiction and generational cycles.

Thank you for listening, for letting me be honest, and for walking with me as this podcast grows from weight loss updates into real-life conversations — the ones that shape us, stretch us, and set us free.
