Manage episode 489784876 series 3639169
Andrew Hale is a well-known Certified Animal Behaviourist based in the UK. He runs Train Positive, a behaviour consultancy that focuses on complex dog behaviour issues, particularly aggression and reactivity.
Andrew is a strong advocate for what he calls Dog Centred Care, an approach rooted in empathy, compassion, and understanding the emotional experiences behind a dog’s behaviour. He is also the behaviour consultant for several organisations, including Pet Remedy, the British Isles Grooming Association, and Canine Arthritis Management.
With a background in human psychology, Andrew brings a unique perspective to his work—bridging the emotional needs of both dogs and their humans. He’s also active in education and has spoken at major conferences like the London Vet Show and the Association of Cats and Dogs conference.
In this very powerful conversation Cheryl and Andrew discuss:
- Andrew's Journey into the dog behaviour world
- Emotional safety for dogs
- Stepping away from task oriented training and taking a more care approach
- Understanding how dogs feel
- How to support your dog emotionally
- How the families of dogs need support
