In this episode, we explore the biblical book of Obadiah, focusing on the conflict between the twin brothers Jacob and Esau and their descendants. The nation of Edom was of Esau, and the nation of Israel was of Jacob. Their descendants were the Edomites and the Israelites.

We highlight how their initial rivalry escalated into generations of animosity, with Obadiah's prophecy foretelling God's judgment upon Edom due to their mistreatment of Israel. Obadiah prophesies, telling them that their deeds will return upon their own heads. They will reap what they sowed.

This historical family feud provides a lesson on the dangers of jealousy, envy, bitterness and pride. Unresolved conflict and bitterness can have devastating, long-term consequences.

Listen and learn the following from this historical family feud:

1. Hurt, if not dealt with, can cause lingering effects across generations. Don't let sibling rivalry grievances pass down to your children, and become a part of their heritage.

2. If you've been hurt or mistreated, don't get bitter. Get wiser and better.

3. Nothing can protect you from the consequences of God's justice.

4. If you set yourself up against someone or something that has divine backing, you are setting yourself up for failure.

5. You cannot curse what God has blessed.
