On this episode of the Unmasked History of Scooby-Doo: we dive into the Scooby-Doo adjacent! Alexa speaks with Saturday Night Live production designer Andrea Purcigliotti about the Scooby-Doo parody sketch. Airing on the season finale of season 49, the sketch featured host Jake Gyllenhaal as Fred, and musical guest Sabrina Carpenter as Daphne.

Highlights of this episode include:

1- The typical timeline and process of the SNL film unit (from the perspective of production design).

2- A look into fair use, copyright, and using distinct elements of an intellectual property in sketch comedy.

3- A behind the scenes look at how the Scooby-Doo SNL sketch came together!

Note: while we don't go into depth on these aspects in this episode of the podcast, if you’re headed to watch the sketch after this interview, it does feature elements of gore and violence.
