Rooted in Rescue: How Community and Dogs Heal Together
Manage episode 502563349 series 3587850
In this inspiring episode of Unleashed Curiosity, Donie Yamamoto and Dr. Amber Da Silva sit down with Megan and Robert, the founders of Farmer & The Flea—a grassroots open-air market that grew into a movement of healing, community, and animal rescue. What began in 2019 as a small coastal market in Summerland, California, blossomed during COVID into a sanctuary of connection, resilience, and purpose.
Megan and Robert share how yoga, service, and the belief that “healing happens through connection—and through dogs” guided them toward their newest mission: building a cage-free dog sanctuary in Santa Barbara. Along the way, they’ve helped more than 40 dogs find loving homes and launched Rescue Rhythms, a community event blending music, mindfulness, and rescue advocacy.
Join us as we explore their journey, the meaning of “healing both sides of the leash,” and the future they envision for animal rescue and community healing.
