Hello!
We are back with another episode of the Unlearn Something podcast. Today, we are tackling a big topic that every school has a responsibility to address- Islamophobia.
The reality is that in many schools across London and the UK, the majority of our students are Muslim. The reason why this has come about is a different episode. Teachers who want to unlearn and tackle this topic can join two upcoming workshops that give teachers the knowledge and strategies to do so from prominent speakers and educators.
CHANGING THE NARRATIVE: CHALLENGING ISLAMOPHOBIA IN THE CLASSROOM - A workshop organised in partnership with BE Truth To Power and Project Free CIC This free online teachers CPD will take place via Zoom over two consecutive Wednesday afternoons:

  • Wednesday 25th September 2024 - 4 pm - 5.30 pm and
  • Wednesday 2nd October 2024 - 4 pm - 5.30 pm

We will have four keynote speakers at each session including representatives from Islamophobia Awareness Month, Educate Against Islamophobia and World Hijab Day/International Muslim History Month, alongside teaching professionals, a community worker, an author and a podcast host!

These workshops are for teachers and educators of all ages and abilities. The aim is to support each other to address issues of discrimination against students (and staff) on grounds of faith or identity. The workshop will be an inclusive space to ask questions and to share resources.
