In this episode, we welcome J.T. English to the show. He is a pastor, professor, podcaster, and author. He has a new book out called “Remember and Rehearse: An Invitation to Participate in God’s Story”. He is also the co-host of the “Knowing Faith” podcast and the co-founder of “Training the Church”, a ministry focused on assisting ministry leaders develop a proven and sustainable discipleship framework for their context. In this interview, we discuss what drew him to vocational ministry, what so many churches get wrong about discipleship of new believers, why we should try to live IN the Bible (not just read it), the importance of understanding the story of the Bible as opposed to just the stories of the Bible, how pragmatism and politicalism distract us from God, what he would say to critics of the “let the Bible interpret the Bible” philosophy, the tension between God’s sovereignty and man’s free will, and much more. Let’s get into it…
