How I went from Cybersecurity to Trustworthy AI in 2019What this honor means to me — and the call to action it represents for the AI community

by Pamela Gupta, 2025 Joseph J. Wasserman Award Honoree

I'm excited to share a personal and professional milestone with you — I’ve been named the 2025 recipient of the Joseph J. Wasserman Award by the ISACA New York Metropolitan Chapter.

This award is ISACA 's highest honor, recognizing lifetime achievement and contributions to governance, cybersecurity, risk, and digital trust. To be recognized in this way, especially among so many distinguished peers, is truly humbling — and deeply meaningful. I feel privileged to be joining the e𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 of past Wasserman Award winners whose legacies continue to shape our field, including: Chris Dimitriadis – Champion of secure digital transformation and visionary leader in audit automation. Gene Spafford – Pioneer of digital forensics and cybersecurity education. Phil Venables – Google Cloud CISO driving unified security and risk strategy at scale. Medha Bhalodkar – Columbia University’s first CISO, trailblazer in enterprise cybersecurity programs. Brian Barnier – Architect of next-generation security frameworks. Theresa "Terry" Grafenstine – Advocate for women in tech and AI ethics leader. Marios Damianides, Peter D. Wild FCA, CAMS Audit, Emil D'Angelo, Steve Ross, Michael P. Cangemi, Alexander Abramov Jim Ambrosini. A huge thanks to Tim Morti
