Willie Weeks was born in Salemburg, North Carolina, in 1947, began playing the electric bass in the early 1960s. he counts his influences as Ron Carter, James Jamerson, and Rad Ray Brown, along with the various music styles he heard on his radio.

His big break came in 1972 on Donnie Hathaways’s “Live” album and that led him to play and tour with Gregg Allman, David Bowie, Jimmy Buffett, Eric Clapton, Bo Diddley, The Dobbie Bros, Aretha, Isaac Hayes, George Harrison, Vince Gill, Etta James, Billy Joel, B. B.King, Lyle Lovett, Randy Newman, Boz Scaggs, Carly Simon, Rod Stewart, The Stones, James Taylor Joe Walsh, Stevie Wonder, and others.

You may not know the name, but you surely know his music as Trick’s Synthetic Podcast counts down American treasure, Willie Weeks.
