The Hawaii Visitors & Convention Bureau was in Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland over the [past week speaking with local agents and meeting planners to encourage both leisure and business event visitors to come to the islands. HVCB CEO, Dr Aaron Salā , told Graeme Kemlo in Melbourne that Hawaii was not so much a destination you should visit, but a way of life. And while it was part of United States and subject to the gei-political influences, it had endured both highs and lows in its 122 year history as gatekeepers between the east and the west as well as the corridor running north-south. He wants to see Hawaii stage a COP conference, tackling issues from health and wellness to sustainability, climate change and tourism resilience. It was a very thoughtful interview.
