In Episode 55 of Think Like a Pancreas—The Podcast, Integrated Diabetes Services Mental Health Clinician, Anna Sabino speaks with James van der Meulen about diabetes burnout.
Together they share their stories of living with diabetes since childhood. They explained how they have learned to recognize and work through the mental challenges that come with this journey.
MEET YOUR HOST AND HER GUEST
Anna Sabino MSW, CDCES has been living with T1D for over 30 years and proudly offers expert emotional health counseling for children, adults, and families with T1D. She is a graduate of Syracuse University with a dual degree in psychology and child and family studies. She earned her Masters in Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis. Her areas of expertise include family dynamics, crisis management, anxiety, depression, burnout, and post-traumatic stress.
Anna’s greatest passion is helping individuals and families build a sense of confidence and comfort with their diabetes management.
James van der Meulen has been living with type 1 diabetes since he was four years old. He has successfully managed his diabetes through university and law school. He is now a successful corporate lawyer in South Africa.
