While writing your book, you’ll get feedback from other people. But chances are that you’re attached to your work and taking criticism (even if constructive) can be difficult. I catch myself every so often wincing at the feedback I get when it’s not what I want it to be. Of course, I’d like to get everything perfectly the first time. Don’t we all? But, in those instances, I remind myself that I’m not doing this for myself. I’m not writing for myself. I’m writing for other people. I’m trying to lead, and as Simon Sinek says, “leaders eat last.” I swallow my pride and evaluate the feedback objectively. This is the only way to handle feedback.
