Overcoming Fear of the Future with God’s Help
Manage episode 508449110 series 3684098
Have you ever found yourself lying awake at night, running through all the “what ifs” in your head? What if the job falls through? What if my health takes a turn for the worse? What if the kids don’t turn out okay?
Fear of the future can creep in so easily, stealing our peace today while offering nothing in return.
In this week’s episode of The Week Ahead Podcast, Ken Robinson talks honestly about how fear of the future affects us all. He shares from his own life, including a moment when his three-year-old daughter was suddenly diagnosed with a brain tumour. What he thought was a broken leg turned into a late-night phone call from a doctor he’d never met, telling him she needed immediate surgery and, without it, had just days to live. In that motel room, far from home, Ken discovered again how fragile the future can feel—and how deeply we need God’s presence in the middle of fear.
Drawing from Isaiah 41:10 and Matthew 6:34, Ken reminds us that God promises to be with us, to strengthen us, and to hold us up when tomorrow feels uncertain. Worry doesn’t change the future, but it does rob us of the peace we could have today.
Ken also shares three practical ways to face the week ahead: name your fear, hand it over to God, and take the next step.
This is an episode filled with encouragement and hope—a gentle reminder that while the future is unknown to us, it’s never unknown to God.
