Karen Bass: Queen of Sedition or Humanitarian Angel? (LA Times)

Mayor Karen Bass announced a plan Friday to provide direct cash assistance to people who have been affected by the Trump administration’s sweeping immigration raids.

The aid will be distributed using cash cards with a “couple hundred” dollars on them.

“You have people who don’t want to leave their homes, who are not going to work, and they are in need of cash.

Trump-Epstein controversy fractures GOP (The Hill)

The battle over the Jeffrey Epstein files that’s severed the MAGA faithful is also surfacing on Capitol Hill, where GOP lawmakers are torn over President Trump’s refusal to release government records related to the deceased financier and sex offender.

Democrats are only happy to exploit the GOP divisions. They’re embracing the Epstein saga — and hoping to foster public disillusionment with Trump — by pressing the administration to disclose the files, and using a variety of procedural tools to try to force a vote on the matter.

Pam Bondi dodges questions on Epstein and Bongino amid Justice Department turmoil: Attorney General Pam Bondi suggested Tuesday that she has no plans to step down as she dodged questions about Jeffrey Epstein and her clash with a top FBI official, seeking to press ahead with a business-as-usual approach in the face of right-wing turmoil.
