Welcome to The Tune'd In Podcast!!!!! (Formerly Known as Dussé & Backwoods) I'm your host TUNDEEEEEE!! Aka Chocolate Papí aka TunGotJokes Twitter/IG/TikTok: @Tungotjokes Special Guest: @CASEYVEGGIES On this episode, we sit down with a true West-Coast Legend and native of Los Angeles, Rapper, Song-Writer and Artist Casey Veggies. Our conversation first starts off with us talking to Casey about how he came up in Los Angeles, being the youngest of his siblings and growing up predominantly in Inglewood. He goes on to share with us that when he was 7 years old he was outside and got hit by a car and had to leave school and be homeschooled. Casey also reveals a random fact that maybe some people knew but was new to Tunde, which was that his father used to be a body guard for Jay-Z when he was younger. We later go on to discuss how him and our Co-Host T.Reg became instant friends as kids through sports and lost touch for a little bit, but eventually linked back up in high school at the Legendary Crenshaw High School. Casey then goes into detail about how things were for him in high school, seeing that he was getting heavy buzz and notoriety for his music at a very young age. He talks about how he was influenced a lot by certain Midwest artists like Lupe Fiasco, and how the East Coast music vibes helped him cultivate his own sound that he develop on the West Coast. By 17 yrs old, because of his constant grind and being outside and on the Fairfax scene, he had develop a solid name in the city, which later had him being able to connect with the big homies from LA doing their own thing like Nipsey Hussle and Dom Kennedy early in their careers. Casey explains that he was really living a crazy life at such a young age because not only was he performing at major clubs in Los Angeles and had his music doing crazy numbers on the internet before streaming was a thing, but he eventually got the attention of Jay-Z and Roc Nation and was flown to New York to meet Jay-z in person. That meeting later turned into him getting signed to a management deal with Roc Nation. As the episode goes on, we continue to talk about his journey as an artist in the music industry and the ups and downs that come from being signed to a major label like Epic Records, which was the label he signed his first record deal with. Casey goes on to express that due to all the politics and lack of knowledge of the music business that at a point, certain things started to get a bit shakey which kind of lead to him going through a bit of depression. Casey keeps it real about how he was able to come back from being in a dark place personally and artistically. But with him continuing to stay creative and motivated by the art of making music got him back to the point where he's creating phenomenal music and now going back on tour with his long time friend and big homie Dom Kennedy. Like usual, our listeners are definitely in for a treat like always, this is one you do not want to miss! So sit back and enjoy the crazy world of The Tune'd In Podcast. Yay! Yay!
