Just in time for Halloween, we take a look into the death care industry through the eyes of Sister Kait Osman of Emerald Bay Lodge #50 in California. Sister Kait had a somewhat roundabout way of getting to the funeral world, going through studies of forensic anthropology and other subjects along her way. Eventually she found herself in California with an interest in helping people as they face the challenges of handling a funeral. Sister Kait provides a candid look at what it's like to learn everything from various religious traditions and social customs to the nuts and bolts of doing funeral work like embalming and retrieving bodies. As Odd Fellows we are constantly reminded of our own mortality and Kait gives us a view that is compassionate and supportive. The Shoutout goes to Prokop Valley Lodge #708 of Glenwillow, Ohio for their recent Oktoberfest celebration. In the Odd Podge, Toby shares the exciting news he learned at the recent Idaho sessions, Kait showed off her Jermaine Soto shirt (available from the Grand Lodge of California), Mike read a resolution recently passed by the West Virginia Grand Lodge, and the hosts shared the news of Ainslie's recent Meritorious Service Jewel, awarded at the Illinois Grand Sessions.
